The Certificate of Higher Education Health and Social Care with Foundation Year provides a focused two-year route into higher education for students seeking a Level 4 award without committing immediately to a full Bachelor’s degree. The programme combines foundation-level academic preparation with a broad introduction to contemporary health and social care, including safeguarding, care policy and law, health and wellbeing, contemporary health issues, research, communication, partnership working and professional development. It also develops academic and employability skills and can support progression to further study at Levels 5 and 6 or employment and career development within the sector.

Applicants normally need 5 GCSE passes or NARIC-confirmed equivalent qualifications; applicants are assessed through interview and, where applicable, English language testing, with CEFR B1 required for students whose first language is not English. Mature applicants without standard qualifications may be considered based on relevant work experience, references, examination performance and appropriate admissions testing.
